Updated information on COVID-19 and Flu: Restricted visitation is now in effect

Dear Prospective Whyman Scholarship Applicant:

The Sparrow Clinton Hospital Foundation Development Council Members work to advance excellence health care services for Clinton County residents. Their prime responsibility is to oversee the distribution of charitable contributions made in support of hospital services.

Merten and Geraldine Whyman Health Careers Scholarships are available through a generous bequest made by the Whyman family to Sparrow Clinton Hospital. The Whyman Endowment Fund distributes funds to selected Clinton County residents who choose to pursue a degree and/or training (including certificate or tech programs) in a health-related field.

Please read the guidelines carefully for recent revisions. Consideration will be given to all county residents who have shown evidence of acceptable academic achievement and interest in pursuing a health career. Having met these criteria, the Scholarship Selection Committee will make its choices based on information provided by the student, references, community involvement, leadership, work experience and financial need.

To be considered for a Whyman Scholarship, applicants must complete the application form, include recent transcripts, and have two recommendations. Hardcopies of all these documents must be MAILED to Sparrow Clinton Hospital Foundation in St. Johns and POSTMARKED no later than APRIL15.

Scholarships are provided on an annual basis, and students can apply for two or more consecutive years. Previous Whyman scholarship winners are welcome to apply, but all applicants will receive equal consideration. The scholarship may be used for tuition, books or fees.

To receive an application, call the Sparrow Clinton Hospital Foundation at 989.227.3334 or email Jackie Coffelt at jackie.coffelt@sparrow.org.
