The Sparrow Heart and Vascular Center is a 40,000-square-foot state-of-the-science facility located in the fourth story of the Dennis A. Swan Family Tower. This ultra-modern center is equipped with all private patient rooms to maximize comfort and confidentiality, and is broken down into several specialized departments.
Our catheterization labs offer the latest cardiac catheterization and therapeutic interventional procedures. These procedures allow our cardiologists, neuro-interventionalists, cardiovascular surgeons and interventional radiologists to closely evaluate the heart, arteries and blood flow. Our highly skilled team of nurses and technologists has extensive experience in their fields.
Cardiac Recovery Unit
The Cardiac Recovery Unit (CRU) is a 25-bed unit where patients are transferred after treatment and testing in the catheterization lab. The CRU is staffed by experienced registered nurses and unit coordinators. For your convenience and privacy, this unit is comprised of all private rooms.
Cardiac Non-Invasive Testing Unit
We also provide non-invasive procedures to assess the strength and health of your heart. These diagnostic tests provide high-quality data, but do not require an operation or incision and involve little or no recovery time. Our dedicated staff of physicians, registered nurses, registered sonographers, exercise specialists, cardiac stress technicians and EKG technicians are specially trained in cardiac testing.
Cardiac Progressive Care Unit
The Cardiac Progressive Care Unit is a 43-bed intermediate care unit for patients who require cardiac monitoring or have undergone open-heart surgery or a cath lab procedure. Our team of specially trained registered nurses works with patient care technicians and unit coordinators to meet every patient’s needs.
Cardiac Intensive Care Unit
The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit is a 15-bed unit dedicated to caring for critically ill and closely monitored heart patients. We emphasize direct, individual care for each patient, which is why we offer an average ratio of one registered nurse for every two patients.
In many cases, cardiovascular surgery is the best treatment option. Our team of clinicians offers the full spectrum of surgical treatment options and has an excellent record of successful outcomes. Our highly trained clinicians are certified by the American Board of Surgery, the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery.
Cardiac rehabilitation is an exercise and educational program for people recovering from heart disease. Our staff works with each patient and their physician to develop an individualized plan of care. Taking part in cardiac rehab will help you to exercise safely, get your energy back and change unhealthy habits.
